Music in Saint-Germain-en-Laye Castle - 1680

Play Video

In the seventeenth century, during the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV, the royal court stayed in Saint-Germain-en-Laye castle, and celebrated the mass in the Saint-Chapel founded by Louis IX in 1238. Though the baroque interior décor was got lost during the 19th-century restoration, we re-enacted a musical performance, taking care to follow precise musical instructions, and recreate the 17th-century sound spatialization.
